MANCHESTER WOMAN SENTENCED
FOR BANK ROBBERY
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Joan DiBartolo, age 47, of Manchester,
New Hampshire was sentenced yesterday, May 24, 2007 in U.S. District Court
to a 41 month term of imprisonment followed by a three year period of
supervised release for the commission of a bank robbery at Members First
Credit Union, Manchester, New Hampshire on November 8, 2005.
The investigation of DiBartolo established that on November 8, 2005, a
Caucasian female entered Members First Credit Union located at 200 Union
Street in Manchester, New Hampshire, approached a teller, and handed the
teller a note which read, "I have a gun. Put the money in the bag. If
I have to, I will shoot you." The female then handed the teller a bag
for the currency and stated, "Do what the note says. I have a gun. Don't
make me use it. Put the money in the bag." The teller placed currency
in the bag, handed it to the female and the female then fled the area.
The investigation conducted following the robbery by the Federal Bureau
of Investigation and the Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department,
established that Joan DiBartolo committed the robbery. The investigation
also disclosed that the latent fingerprints lifted from the demand note
matched those of DiBartolo. When arrested, DiBartolo confessed to the
commission of the robbery.
The prosecution was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau
of Investigation and the Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Terry L. Ollila.
