NEWTON MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

Boston, MA.... A Newton resident pleaded guilty yesterday, and was sentenced to three years in federal prison on child pornography charges.

United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New England Field Division, announced that ARTHUR SERINO, age 65 , of Newton Center, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. Immediately after accepting his guilty plea, SERINO was sentenced to 3 years in prison, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release. SERINO is now required to register as a sex offender in any state where he resides, works or is a student.

At the hearing the prosecutor told the Court that, had the case proceeded to trial, the evidence would have shown that SERINO possessed images of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his computer.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New England Field Division. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dana Gershengorn in Sullivan’s Major Crimes Unit.
