ILLINOIS MAN SENTENCED IN TELEPHONE THREAT CASE

 

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Thomas Newton, age 59, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, was sentenced yesterday, Wednesday, April 18, 2007 by United States District Judge Paul J. Barbadoro to five years of probation and six months of home confinement.

Newton had been indicted on October 19, 2005 by a federal grand jury in Concord, New Hampshire on charges that while he was in Illinois he used the interstate telephone system to threaten an individual in New Hampshire. On October 25, 2005 he was arrested in Chicago, Illinois. He pled guilty in New Hampshire on October 26, 2006.

This case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the Hanover and New London, New Hampshire Police Departments.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Arnold Huftalen.
