MASSACHUSETTS MAN SENTENCED TO 24 MONTHS FOR BANK ROBBERYCONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – John Macedonia, of Massachusetts, was sentenced today in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire to 24 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to committing the October 31, 2007 robbery of the Citizens Bank located on Broadway in Salem, New Hampshire. Macedonia was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, which will begin after he is released from prison. During the period of supervised release, Macedonia’s behavior will be monitored by the United States Probation Office. Finally, Macedonia was ordered to pay restitution to Citizens Bank. Macedonia admitted that on October 31, 2008, he entered the Citizens Bank located on Broadway in Salem, New Hampshire, and handed the teller a note demanding money. When the teller initially hesitated, Macedonia told her to give him all her money. The teller provided a sum of cash to Macedonia, who then left the bank in a grey Ford Taurus. A witness at the scene captured a partial plate for the Taurus. U.S. Attorney Tom Colantuono stated: “This office will continue to work with local and state law enforcement officials to prosecute bank robbers. We believe that the vigilant prosecution of these individuals will contain this danger to society and deter others from committing this and similar crimes.” The Salem Police Department investigated this case. The FBI assisted in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Don Feith prosecuted this case.
