Bridgton Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

PORTLAND, ME—United States Attorney Paula D. Silsby announced today that Matthew Jarvinen, 24, of Bridgton, Maine, entered a guilty plea today in U.S. District Court to a one-count indictment charging him with bank robbery. U.S. District Court Judge D. Brock Hornby accepted Jarvinen’s guilty plea. Sentencing will be scheduled for a later date.

Court documents indicate that on March 27, 2009, Jarvinen entered the Bangor Savings Bank branch in Cornish, Maine and passed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and Jarvinen fled with approximately $3280. Law enforcement subsequently identified Jarvinen from surveillance photographs taken at the bank. Jarvinen was arrested on March 30, 2009.

U.S. Attorney Silsby praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the York County Sheriff’s Office, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bridgton, Maine Police Department.
