Springfield Man Charged with Receipt and Possession of Child Pornography

BOSTON, MA—A Springfield man was charged today in federal court with receipt and possession of child pornography.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks, Robert Malaby, Inspector In Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Bruce M. Foucart, Special Agent In Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs - Office of Investigations in Boston and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent In Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division, announced today that BRIAN WILKERSON, age 38, of Springfield, MA, was charged in an Indictment with four counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.

The Indictment alleges that on or about August 29, 2005, WILKERSON received a video file containing a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, which was ordered from a website. The Indictment further alleges that on or about September 7, 2008, WILKERSON received three other digital files containing a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Lastly, the Indictment alleges that on or about September 16, 2008, WILKERSON possessed a computer and computer media which contained other visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

If convicted on these charges, WILKERSON faces up to 10 years imprisonment, to be followed by supervised release for up to life and a $250,000 fine on the possession charge, and up to 20 years incarceration, to be followed by supervised release for up to life and a $250,000 fine on each of the receipt counts.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven H. Breslow of Loucks’ Springfield Branch Office.

The details contained in the Indictment are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
