In the morning of May 26, 2007, a bank employee of East Cambridge Savings
Bank entered the vault area of the bank and noticed that the vault had been
opened. The vault was empty and various items were thrown about. The Somerville
police were immediately called. After the police arrived, a bank teller was
discovered tied to a chair with duct tape. The bank teller claimed she was
kidnaped the night before.
Around 10:00 p.m. the previous evening, the bank teller had just completed
purchases at White Hen Pantry, 289 Montvale Avenue and East Woburn Package
Store, 287 Montvale Avenue, Woburn, MA. When she entered her vehicle, a black
Kia Sorento, she felt a gun to her head. She was made to move the rearview
mirror so she could not see the subject. She was then forced to drive throughout
the Boston area while the subject pressed her for details about the bank.
At approximately 6:00 a.m., the subject instructed the bank teller to drive
to the East Cambridge Savings Bank in Somerville, MA. The subject told the
bank teller that his boss had her kids and that he would kill them if she
did not cooperate. When they got to the bank, the subject commanded the bank
teller to open the bank and the vault. He also forced her to place duct tape
over the camera. The subject emptied the vault and tied up the teller with
duct tape before he fled the area. The only description provided by the bank
teller was the subject wore blue surgical gloves.
